That 8-day water scare in Greenville? Never mind.

GREENVILLE — State Department of Health laboratory tests have shown that Greenville’s water supply was not contaminated last month.

The city was under a boil-water notice from Sept. 3 to Sept. 11 because an initial water sample showed the presence of E. coli bacteria that can make people sick.

Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson tells the Delta Democrat Times that officials are “99 percent sure” there was an error in the sample.

She says the person who conducted the test followed the correct procedures, but the test itself is highly sensitive.

Business owners say they spent thousands of dollars because the water was considered undrinkable for eight days.
