TUPELO – The Salvation Army has issued an urgent call for help.
They have 200 children they have committed to help, but have not received donations to assist. The Salvation Army is due to distribute gifts to needy families on Friday.
“We are in a bind,” said Susan Gilbert, director of social services. “We need it before Wednesday afternoon.”
The need is focused on girls and boys ages 9 to 12. The Salvation Army needs:
• Boys clothing, sizes 14 to 2X
• Girls clothing, sizes 5 junior to 2X for girls
• Board games, CDs, hand held games, books for older children, DVDs, body wash for boys and girls and throws.
The Salvation Army cannot accept cash to fill needs for the Angel Tree. But they can accept gift cards that can be used to fill the wishes or given directly to families.
Please drop items off at the Salvation Army offices on Carnation Street in Tupelo. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
They also will accept donations at the rear of Tupelo Furniture Market Building 5, where they are sorting.
