HOLLY SPRINGS – Rico R. Fleming, aka Rico Pool, a suspect in the Dec. 25 drive-by shooting that killed 16-year-old Derica Patterson, was arrested Tuesday in St. Louis by the United States Marshals Service.
Fleming, 22, of Moscow, Tenn., is being sought for extradition back to Marshall County, where he will face one murder charge and four counts of aggravated assault.
The drive-by shooting took place about 3 a.m. Christmas morning on U.S. Highway 72 just west of Slayden. Attackers allegedly shot 15 high-powered rifle rounds into a Mercury Grand Marquis in which Patterson, of Memphis, was riding. Four of the five other people in the car were injured by the gunfire.
Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson thanked all officers involved in the investigation and arrest, including his investigators led by Maj. Kelly McMillen and the Marshals Service’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.
