Thrasher student pedestrian struck by vehicle

THRASHER – The case remains under investigation of a 13-year-old Thrasher school student who was struck by a vehicle at the school campus Monday afternoon.

The accident happened about 2:30 p.m., said Sheriff Randy Tolar, when the victim was crossing C.R. 1040.

A vehicle driven by a 17-year-old female student ran into the 13-year-old female student, Tolar said, causing a head injury and possibly other unknown injuries.

Tolar said he arrived at the accident scene before the victim was airlifted to a Memphis hospital, and noted that she was talking and moving her arms and legs.

A witness said the driver of the vehicle was traveling at a slow speed, and further information will be developed as the investigation progresses, the sheriff said.
