Thrasher gets first shutout in 15 years

Thrasher recorded its first shutout in 15 years Friday with its 35-0 Division 1-1A home victory against Biggersville.
Logan Dodds scored two of the Rebels (3-1, 1-1) five TDs on runs of 3 and 12 yards.
Blake Weatherbee gave Thrasher a 6-0 lead in the first quarter with a 25-yard TD scamper. Dodds scored on his 3-yard run and a 2-point conversion to give the Rebels a 14-0 halftime lead.
Luke Walden scored on a 39-yard run in the third quarter and Austen Holder added a 29-yard TD run in the fourth quarter for the Rebels.

Baldwyn 46, South Pontotoc 7: Bradley Boose rushed for 125 yards and scored two TD to lead the Bearcats (3-3) to a non-division win.
Boose scored on a 49-yard run and returned a fumble 20 yards for a TD. He also recorded 14 tackles and a sack.
Corbin Scott threw for two TDs – 18 yards to Devonta Gates and 29 yards to Will Moore.
Mantachie 44, Hatley 7: QB Dustin Carrell throw for three TD passes and kicked a 45-yard field goal to lead the Mustangs (3-3).
Carrell hooked up with Hunter Collins on TD strikes of 5 and 51 yards in the first half. He opened the scoring in the first quarter with an 18-yard TD pass to Austin Byrd. Hunter Mears had an 80-yard kickoff return in the third quarter to answer Hatley’s lone TD.
Corinth 55, Alcorn Central 6: The Warriors (5-0) scored seven TDs in the first on the road to defeat their county rival, the Golden Bears (2-4).
Kendrick Williams scored on runs of 5, 10 and 30 yards for Corinth, which kicks off Division 1-4A play next week with a home game against IAHS.
Brady Allen threw TD passes of 76 yards to Brice Spence and 9 yards to Darius Gaines for the Warriors.
Cleveland 28, New Albany 21: A 97-yard kickoff return by Di’Treyvious Russell in the third quarter was the eventual game-clincher.
Jimmy Baldon scored on a 39-yard interception return, J.T. Moore caught a 28-yard TD strike from Spencer Day, and Boston Newsome added a 1-yard run for New Albany (2-4).
Vardaman 50, H.W. Byers 48: Donta Walker scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter to lift Vardaman (3-2, 3-0) to its 1-1A win.
Walker scored on runs of 15 and 27 yards in the second half and had a 60-yard pass interception return for a TD in the first half.
Cody Jenkins threw two TD passes for the Rams – 5 yards to Brady Pendergraph and 26 to Tae West.
Marquis Moore scored three TDs for Byers (1-4, 1-2) on runs of 15, 65 and 68 yards.
Starkville 48, Lanier 0: The Yellow Jackets, behind the running of JaQuez Horsley, won their Division 2-5A opener on the road.
Horsley scored five TDs on three 1-yard runs, a 2-yard run and a 4-yard run to lead Starkville (2-3).
Gabe Myles threw a 54-yard TD strike in the first half to Kentrell Spencer. Shyquell Spruell scored the Jackets’ final points on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Marshall Academy 28, Indianola 6: The Patriots (5-1) won their second straight MAIS District 1 AA game behind a solid ground attack featuring QB Dakota Dailey and RBs Devin McGregor and Zack Pritchard.
Daily rushed for 89 yards and threw a 5-yard TD pass to Randy Love. Pritchard rushed for 93 yards and scored on runs of 1 and 39 yards while McGregor had 91 rushing yards and a 22-yard TD.
Oxford 40, Center Hill 27: The Chargers (5-0) remained unbeaten in winning their Division 1-5A opener. QB Parker Adamson passed for two TDs – 76 yards to Glenn Gordon and 39 yards to Nick Brown.
Strayhorn 59, East Union 22: The Urchins (2-3) got two TDs from running back Vadale Rucker of 15 and 30 yards in their loss. Broderick Montgomery added a 25-yard score.
Walnut 6, Hamilton 0: Shawn Thornton caught a 10-yard TD pass from Dillon Barnes in the second for the Wildcats’ (2-4) lone points.
West Point 23, Lake Cormorant 17: The Green Wave (3-2, 1-0) won its 1-5A opener at home.
