OXFORD – Officers have arrested three men and charged each with six counts of burglary in connection with a series of break-ins that had had residents at a targeted apartment complex petitioning for stepped-up security.
When investigators of the Oxford Police Department, Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Narcotics executed a search warrant at 145 Twin Gates Drive on Tuesday night, they identified property believed to to have been stolen from several locations in Oxford and elsewhere in Lafayette County, according to Oxford Police Chief Mike Martin.
Those arrested include Emmanuel Wallace, 25, of Memphis, Tenn; Jerry Johnson, 22, of Coldwater; and Lamarcus Ezell, 24, of Vardaman. Martin said officers recovered a large amount of stolen property and narcotics and that bond has not yet been set for the suspects.
The six charges against the suspects involve five burglaries at University Trails and one at Oxford Square Apartments, Martin said.
Scott Mills of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department said he and fellow officers are still investigating the evidence and expect to file additional charges against the trio Friday morning.
