Tippah County crash involves state trooper

Accident StockThe Mississippi Highway Patrol, along with the MHP Accident Reconstructionist team, are investigating a three-vehicle crash involving a MHP trooper.

The crash occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on MS Highway 15 north of Ripley, in Tippah County.

According to witnesses, it appears a car suddenly stopped in the highway, causing a chain reaction of three vehicles, which were following the car, colliding into one another. The MHP unit was one of the vehicles involved in the collision.

The trooper was uninjured an the other two drivers received minor injuries.

Names of MHP troopers or those involved in minor injury crashes are generally not released.

    Wonder why an outside agency is not investigating it ? When locals are involved they don’t investigate their own, they call MHP. Double standard I guess.

    If the trooper ran into the back of another car, he was following too closely. Where’s his ticket?

    Can any of us count the number of times we’ve successfully fought the inclination to slam on the brakes when being tailgated – - most especially when it’s a kop doing the rolling rear bumper inspection?
