Tippah County Supervisors pass spice ordinance

By Southern Sentinel

RIPLEY – Tippah County supervisors passed an ordinance banning the sale and possession or use of the herbal mixture Spice.
The ban, passed Monday, takes effect 30 days after the ordinance is published.
The ordinance makes it a misdemeanor to buy, sell, possess or distribute the herbal mixture or any similar substance.
As a county ordinance, it can be enforced anywhere in the county – inside Tippah’s municipalities as well as outside them, Board Attorney Sean Akins told supervisors.
The penalty ranges to a maximum of $1,000 and six months in jail.
Blue Mountain, Tupelo, Horn Lake, Southaven, and Olive Branch already have passed legislation banning the mixture.
