Tishomingo County Sheriff announces several arrests

Tishomingo County Sheriff Glenn Whitlock recently released information on several recent felony arrests.

- On March 19, 2012, the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Lisa Deaton Baswell, age 43 of Iuka, for 2 counts of Sale of a Controlled Substance. One count of Sale of Hydrocodone and one count of Sale of Klonopin. Baswell remains in custody.

- On March 20, 2012, the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Itawamba County Sheriff’s Department and the North MS Narcotics Unit in the arrest of Kevin Armstrong and Alex Hester for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine. The arrest occurred on Jericho Road in Itawamba County, MS after information was developed from a Methamphetamine related arrest in Tishomingo County, MS.

- On Wednesday, March 21, 2012, the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Gary Lee Harris, age 31 of Alcorn County, for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine. Harris was arrested at a local business on a Grand Jury Indictment. Harris was released after posting bond.

- On March 22, 2012, Officers with the Burnsville Police Department, MS Department of Corrections and the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jimmy Grimes, age 45, for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine. The Sheriff’s Department anticipates additional arrests in this case. Grimes remains in custody at the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department on a hold by the MS Department of Corrections. The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation.

- On March 24, 2012, the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Michael Adam Byrd, age 30 of Burnsville, for Burglary. The arrest occurred after a report was filled and Byrd was identified as a suspect. The Sheriff’s Department executed a Search Warrant and recovered all items that were reported stolen. Byrd remains in custody at this time and a hold has been placed on him by the Hardin County TN Sheriff’s Department. The Burnsville Police Department assisted in the investigation.

- On March 26, 2012, the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department arrest Daniel Gorman, age 27 of Cherokee, AL, for Burglary. The Sheriff’s Department also arrested Misty Lewis, age 26, for Accessory After the Fact of Burglary. Both subjects remain in custody at this time. Gorman also has a hold placed on him from Colbert County AL for an additional Burglary. The Sheriff’s Department recovered over $6,000.00 in cash and a firearm from the Tishomingo County Burglary and two firearms and other items from the Burglary in Colbert County. The Tishomingo Police Department and the MS Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation.

Sheriff Whitlock wished to thank the Burnsville, Iuka and Tishomingo Police Departments for their assistance in the arrests and investigations. The Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department is also working closely on a daily basic with the surrounding sheriff’s departments and also wished to thank them for their assistance and cooperation.
