Tishomingo County’s superintendent to retire

Daily Journal

IUKA – Tishomingo County Schools Superintendent Benny McClung announced last week he is retiring June 30.

“I have dedicated 36 years of my life to educating the children of Mississippi, with 24 of those serving the children of Tishomingo County,” McClung said. “I’m grateful to the school board for this chance to serve and for the school district for tremendous support.”

After having positions in Tishomingo County, McClung served as principal of Saltillo Elementary School, then assistant superintendent of Lafayette County Schools.

He went on to other education roles with the state and the University of Mississippi, before returning to take the superintendent’s position two years ago.
