IUKA – The victim in a Friday night shooting in Tishomingo and released from the hospital over the weekend has been identified as Francine Angel, 48, of Iuka.

The suspect in the shooting, 57-year-old Herbert Lee Bennett, remains in Tishomingo County Jail and is expected to be arraigned in justice court today on a charge of attempted murder, said Tishomingo County Assistant Chief Deputy Jeff Palmer.

Two other suspects detained at the same time face misdemeanor charges unrelated to the shooting, Palmer said, and he declined to release their names.

Investigators said a group of people were at a County Road 158 residence around 6:30 p.m. Friday when Bennett fired a bullet at a Angel’s head. The bullet grazed her face and exited around her ear.

Angel was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.
