PLANTERSVILLE — Town leaders in Plantersville have voted to prohibit smoking at local restaurants, businesses and other public buildings.
A new ordinance takes effect July 6 that will ban smoking in the town just east of Tupelo.
Like many other ordinances, smoking will not be allowed close to the entrance of a building.
Town officials tell WTVA-TV in Tupelo that the ordinance is like that adopted in other Mississippi cities.
The smoking ban includes electronic cigarettes which are sometimes used instead of a regular cigarette.
