TPSD shuffles principals

TUPELO – At Tuesday’s school board meeting, the district’s staff voted to create a new administrative position and fill it with former Tupelo High School Principal Lee Stratton.
The district also shuffled five elementary school principal spots.
Stratton’s new title will be director of extra-curricular activities and special assistant to the superintendent.
Meanwhile, Lawndale Principal Terry Harbin will be the new leader at Carver, Rankin Elementary Principal Anna Guntharp will take over at Parkway Elementary and Church Street Elementary Principal Kay Collins will be the principal at Thomas Street Elementary.
Paul Moton, the director of the High School Advancement Academy, will be the new principal at Rankin Elementary. Lawndale Assistant Principal Brock English will be that school’s principal.
The vacancies at Parkway, Carver and Thomas Street were created by retirements.
The district has an unfilled vacancy at Tupelo High School.
