COLUMBUS — A Lowndes County teacher has been indicted for an alleged affair with a 17-year-old student.
Katherine Robbins posted a $25,000 bond Monday after pleading not guilty to sexual battery charges in Lowndes County Circuit Court. The case is scheduled for trial Aug. 22.
Robbins, who taught math at New Hope High School, has been accused of having improper relations with the student from Nov. 19 to Jan. 3. Robbins is charged with sexual battery under Mississippi law because of her position of authority as a teacher over the student.
She’s been suspended from her job with pay since the allegations came up in February.
