STARKVILLE — The trial for a Mississippi State University student accused of hitting another student with a cowbell after the Egg Bowl in 2009 has been continued until the April term of Oktibbeha County Circuit Court.
The Commercial Dispatch reports that the attorneys for the defendant, Brent Morgan Vowell, asked this week for more time to investigate the incident.
Police say Vowell was charged with aggravated assault.
Police say the incident occurred in the student section in the north end zone at MSU stadium during the postgame celebration following the Bulldogs victory over Mississippi on Nov. 28, 2009.
Police say the victim suffered a severe head wound after being struck in the head with a cowbell after an argument. The victim hasn’t been identified.
