COLUMBUS – The trial of a Lowndes County math teacher accused of sexual battery has been continued until the next session of circuit court in December.
The Commercial Dispatch reports that court records show defense attorneys asked for more time to prepare.
Katherine Robbins, of New Hope, was placed on administrative leave when allegations she had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student surfaced in March.
Robbins, who taught math at New Hope High School, has been accused of having improper relations with the student from Nov. 19 to Jan. 3. Robbins is charged with sexual battery under Mississippi law because of her position of authority as a teacher over the student.
