NEW ALBANY – Highway Patrol Troop F Commander Capt. Chad Moore said troops will increase patrols this weekend to ensure the safety of motorists in north Mississippi.
Last year’s Labor Day was the deadliest holiday on Mississippi’s highways with five deaths and more than 4,000 traffic citations issued, according to Trooper Ray Hall.
“We understand as troopers we are truly the last line of defense for an innocent family to be saved from becoming a victim to a drunk driver,” Moore said.
Increased safety checkpoints and Highway Patrol presence is expected Friday until midnight Monday.
