Tupelo adds online school registration

TUPELO – Tupelo Public School District parents can save time this summer by using the Internet to register their children for school.
The district has added Infosnap, an online program that allows parents to fill out many of the forms that previously were available only on paper. That means they can complete them in advance of the beginning of the year and won’t have to spend so much time on them during open houses.
Infosnap is currently available to parents who are new in the district and will be ready for returning students on July 1. Those students will get a letter in the mail soon with a code to use while registering.
Parents can access Infosnap from a link on the right side of the school district’s website, www.tupeloschools.com. Those who prefer to complete paper forms still will be able to do so.
One advantage of the new system is parents with multiple children only have to enter various contact information once.
“In this first year, we are really trying to make sure we get up-to-date information on everyone,” said TPSD Community Liaison Mary Ann Plasencia. “The two benefits are you can do it at the convenience of your home or workplace and there is a lot of information you don’t have to repeat.”
Parents of both new and returning students must still go in person to provide proof of residency. New students also must bring a birth certificate and an immunization form after completing the online registration.
Parents can bring those forms on any weekday to the school. The district also will have a one-stop location at Milam Elementary on July 8-19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. This will allow them to submit forms for all of their children in one place.
Computers also will be available at Milam on those days for parents to use Infosnap with the assistance of district employees.
“We’ve never done this before, and we hope we get a good response to it,” Plasencia said.
Required proofs of residency this year include a mortgage document and a utility bill dated within the last 30 days. More information is available on the district website. TPSD no longer will accept a driver’s license, auto registration or voter ID for residency.
Anyone with questions about these forms can contact TPSD support services at (662) 841-8955.
The InfoSnap process will take about 15 minutes to complete, Plasencia said. Parents can upload emergency contact information and electronically sign required forms.
