TUPELO – For the second consecutive day, Tupelo marked a new record high temperature.
On Saturday, Tupelo hit 104 degrees. That bypassed the previous record of 102 degrees in 1954. On Friday, Tupelo reached 106 degrees, breaking the old record of 104 set in 1931.
According to John Sirmon, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Memphis, the forecast for Sunday calls for a 104-degree high. If Tupelo reaches that temperature, it could tie the current record on the books at 104 from 1954.
