TUPELO – The Tupelo School District has canceled its early release day scheduled for Thursday because of the amount of time students missed this week.
The weather forced the closing of schools from Monday through Wednesday. Students will also be off Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
“We’ve missed so much school we didn’t think the timing was right to continue with the early release,” Deputy Superintendent Diana Ezell said.
The district uses the early-release days for teacher training. It will still hold such days on Feb. 9, Feb. 23, March 9, March 30, April 13 and May 16.
