TUPELO – Christmas officially rolls into downtown today with the annual Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade.
This year’s theme is “The All America City Christmas” in honor of Tupelo’s fourth win at the national All America City contest this year.
It’s the 63rd year for the parade, which this year will have 108 units, including 32 floats – with local Girl Scouts serving as grand marshals and Santa Claus bringing up the rear.
As usual, the parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Front and Jefferson streets, head west on Jefferson, turn left on Robbins and then left on Main. The route ends at Fairpark.
The weather is expected to cooperate, with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 50s.
Afterward, bring the kids to the sixth annual Home Sweet Home at the BancorpSouth Conference Center behind the Hilton Garden Inn, where they’ll build their own gingerbread houses from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hot chocolate and a snack will be provided.
The Kiwanis Club of Tupelo will serve pancakes at First United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall from 6:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at $5 per plate.
