Tupelo electric, water bills set to increase

Daily Journal

TUPELO – The Tupelo City Council approved Tuesday a roughly 2.2 percent rate increase for Tupelo Water and Light residential customers, an increase attributed to a Tennessee Valley Authority rate increase.

Johnny Timmons, head of TW&L, said the increase in electricity costs resulted from TVA changing costs for non-fuel electric rates. While rates vary during summer, winter and transition months, the additional costs will result in about a $1.50 monthly increase for an average customer who uses 1,000 kilowatts of energy.

The rate change begins Oct. 17.

Same ole story. TVA announces a reduction and city announces a hike OR TVA goes up and then down and back up again more. Just think, you paid to have TVA come online in years past for cheap electric.
