TUPELO – Five Tupelo firefighters have returned from the Mississippi Gulf Coast after helping with hurricane rescue efforts.
Training Officer Remeco Traylor, Capt. Brad Robinson, Sgt. Chad Blankenship, Adam Holt and Chris Watkins spent Wednesday and Thursday with emergency rescue crews in Hancock County. They were then deployed to Pearl River County later Thursday.
“They were very instrumental in performing over 20 rescues of victims trapped by flooding water,” said Fire Chief Thomas Walker. “We are very proud of them. They represented Tupelo well.”
The men made 27 rescues as well as four animal rescues while helping crews along the coast.
