Tupelo hires new elementary principals

TUPELO – The Tupelo Public School District hired two new elementary principals on Thursday, hiring Mitzi Moore and Chad Chism from the Pontotoc City School District.
Moore, who is currently principal at Pontotoc Middle School, will lead Parkway Elementary. Chism, the principal at Pontotoc Elementary, will move to Thomas Street Elementary.
The school district also hired a third Pontotoc City administrator, choosing Pontotoc High School Principal Eddie Moore as a curriculum specialist in the district’s curriculum department.
Also hired on Thursday was Tracey Taylor as the district’s grants coordinator/ arts integration coordinator. Taylor has served as principal of East Sunflower Elementary School.
All four moves were approved in a specially-called school board meeting. The district has scheduled receptions for this afternoon for teachers, parents and community members to meet the new principals. The Parkway reception will be between 3:45 and 4:30 p.m., and the Thomas Street one is from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
