Tupelo man charged with Monday shooting

TUPELO – Deputies have arrested one man in connection with a Monday shooting and are looking for a second one.
Tavares Warlick, 26, of Tupelo is charged with aggravated assault for his alleged involvement in a shooting that injured another man. His bond was set at $100,000.
The man who was shot was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center where he remains in stable condition, and another suspect is being sought in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred at around noon Monday in Haven Acres just south of Green Tee Road, according to Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson. Johnson said all three men knew one another and had been involved in an altercation before the shooting.
“When our deputies got on the scene, we found the victim laying on the ground suffering from several gunshot wounds,” said Johnson. “After an investigation we learned that a car pulled up and an individual inside the car fired several shots with a semi-automatic handgun. Luckily none of the injuries suffered by the victim were life-threatening.”
Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Jermaine Bell, 26, of Tupelo, on a charge of aggravated assault. Johnson said Bell should be considered armed and dangerous.
