TUPELO – City officials must decide how to improve the most deteriorating streets with only 20 percent budgeted to cover the $3.5 million in costs for Tupelo’s roughest roadways.

Tupelo has budgeted just $693,655 for street improvements.

Don Lewis, Tupelo chief operations officer, suggested upgrading the city’s worst streets during a two- to three-year period.

City Council members will determine how much city taxpayer money to use for street repairs and upgrades prior to approving the 2015 fiscal year budget in September.
