Tupelo nurse pleadsin prescription case

HOUSTON – A Tupelo nurse has been sentenced for taking prescription medicines away from her patients.
Carrie McCain, 34, of Mathiston, pleaded guilty Monday in Chickasaw County circuit court to two counts of acquiring possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud and forgery. At the time of the crime, McCain was employed in Tupelo as a home health care nurse.
She was sentenced to five years in prison, with four years suspended, on two counts. Sentences will run concurrently. She also will pay fines and court costs.
