Tupelo pre-teen Joshua Randle took first place in Saturday’s NFL Punt, Pass & Kick championship in his division in New Orleans.
Joshua won the best composite score among 10-11 year-olds, in the competition, which was held at the Superdome just hours before the New Orleans Saints battled the Dallas Cowboys.
It was the first time since 1979 that a Tupelo resident had competed at that level in the NFL PPK.
In two weeks the family will know whether Joshua advances to the next level, which is the National Finals competition at an AFC playoff game in January.
