TUPELO – The Tupelo Public School District recently received district-wide accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools’ Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
All of the district’s schools have been accredited, but Superintendent Randy Shaver said at Tuesday’s school board meeting that it was meaningful for the entire district to receive accreditation.
It is more common for individual schools to be accredited than for school districts. According to the SACS website, other accredited districts in Northeast Mississippi include Corinth, Tishomingo County, Aberdeen, Starkville, Amory, Oxford and West Point.
Tupelo began seeking district-wide accreditation under Superintendent Randy McCoy.
