TUPELO – Tupelo Public School District students will pay a quarter more for lunch when school starts in August.
On Tuesday, the school board approved an increase to $2.50 for kindergarten through 12th-grade students. Prekindergarten students will pay $2.25.
Meals for teachers and school visitors will increase from $3 to $3.25.
Under the current rules, Tupelo should not have to increase prices next year to meet the federal law requirements, which are based on federal reimbursement levels for free and reduced lunches, said Child Nutrition Director Lynne Rogers.
Both Lee County and Itawamba County school districts also opted to go to $2.50 for lunch.
