TUPELO – Upper and lower elementary school days will be staggered for Tupelo Public School District for the coming year.
The school board earlier this week approved the same 8 a.m. starting time for both, as reported in Thursday’s Daily Journal, but that has since been changed due to parent need.
Officials have decided that schools with kindergarten through second grade – Carver, Church Street, Joyner, Parkway and Thomas Street elementaries – will begin the school day at 7:45 a.m. and finish at 2:45 p.m.
Schools with third through fifth grade – Lawhon, Lawndale, Pierce Street and Rankin – will start at 8 a.m. and let out at 3 p.m.
Children can be dropped off up to 30 minutes before school and should be picked up within 15-30 minutes of the final bell.
