TUPELO – Two Tupelo Public Schools were honored Tuesday at an awards ceremony in Jackson.
Rankin Elementary and Tupelo Middle School were recognized by the Public Education Forum, a 7-year-old group of state leaders in business, politics and education.
Rankin was honored for its use of technology. Students at the kindergarten-through-fourth-grade school regularly access the Internet to locate information on topics they are studying.
Tupelo Middle School was honored for its career awareness mentor program. As part of the program, students at the seventh- and eighth-grade school spend a half-day trailing adult mentors. The mentors come from a variety of professions, including medicine, business and communications.
