Tupelo warns of scam aimed at TW&L customers

Tupelo stockTUPELO – A city spokesperson has issued an alert regarding a scam aimed at customers of Tupelo Water and Light.

According to a news release, several customers have reported receiving calls from someone posing as an employee of TW&L. This person has asked for credit card information over the phone.

“Customers have apparently been told if they do not give a credit card number their power service will be interrupted,” the release said. The spokesperson emphasized that these calls are not coming from TW&L.

Officials are asking that anyone receiving such calls report them to the Tupelo Police Department. Those with questions may call TW&L at 841-6476.
