TUPELO – West Tupelo is getting a frozen yogurt shop.
Bruce Patel, the franchisee for the two Tutti Frutti locations in Tupelo, plans to open a third location in front of Walmart on West Main Street.
He has signed a lease for the former Christy’s space, according to building owner Bridgforth Rutledge. Christy’s Hamburgers closed about two weeks ago.
“It was just too great of a location to pass up,” Patel said.
Patel said he’s working with the city to get permits. He hopes to have the frozen yogurt shop open in two months.
The new location will be similar to the Crye-Leike Plaza store on North Gloster Street, he said, but he plans to make the decor a little more upscale. It will have eight machines and offer 16 flavors, plus a variety of toppings.
The shop will be staffed with employees from the other two locations. One store is located in The Mall at Barnes Crossing food court.
Patel also opened a Tutti Frutti in Pearl, plus he’s opening one in Columbus and one in Oxford.
