SALTILLO – Two people were arrested last week for the theft of a 52-foot trailer loaded with furniture.
According to Saltillo Police Chief Steve Brooks, the trailer was stolen last Sunday night or early Monday morning from Bauhaus Furniture Manufacturing. The trailer and contents were valued at $62,000.
The trailer and furniture were found in Ripley when a wholesale furniture dealer was suspicious of the goods and called police.
Brooks said two were arrested and charged with grand larceny, posted bond and were released. The case will go before a grand jury.
Brooks did not want to release the individuals’ names because his department is still investigating the reported crime as well as a similar theft of a loaded Bauhaus trailer about two years ago where the goods wound up in Pontotoc County. No arrests have been made in that incident yet.
