KOSCIUSKO — An Attala County grand jury will review the evidence surrounding the death of a local man.

Justice Court Judge Bob Jordan on Wednesday bound over Frankie Barber and Barry Ware to the grand jury.

Barber and Ware are charged in the January shooting death of Cedric M. Sharkey. They are being held on $500,000 bond each.

Barber and Ware, both from Sallis, are each charged with murder in the Jan. 7 slaying of Sharkey.

Sheriff William Lee says the shooting appeared to have occurred after Barber and Ware confronted Sharkey, thinking he might have been involved in stealing iron or other scrap metal from Barber’s property.

Lee says Sharkey died of a gunshot wound in the chest.
