BATESVILLE — Two people are dead and at least three others were hospitalized after separate shootings in Batesville in north Mississippi.

Panola County Coroner Gracie Gulledge identifies the victims as 26-year-old Lacardo Moore and 17-yeaer-old Shandarus Moore. They are brothers from Batesville. She says they were killed while sitting in a car Thursday night at the West Ridge Apartments. She had no other details. She says autopsies have been ordered.

Authorities say the incidents are under investigation and they have not determined if the shootings were related. The shootings were reported about 10 p.m. Thursday at different locations in the city.

Batesville police referred calls to the district attorney’s office, which expected to have statement later Friday.

Authorities have not released the conditions of those injured.
