BOONEVILLE – Two people died in an early Wednesday morning explosion that caused a fire in the Blackland community in western Prentiss County.
Rhonda Spain, 42, was in the bedroom of her home at 353 C.R. 7000 when 27-year-old William Guy Spain’s pickup struck the bedroom wall, said Coroner James Horn. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
“William Guy Spain’s truck left the road and knocked a light pole down and ran into the house,” Horn said. “He ran over a gas line going to the house, and it exploded and caught his truck and the house on fire.”
The address on William Guy Spain’s driver’s license was 356 C.R. 7000, said Sheriff Randy Tolar, so he lived nearby, and the two victims were related.
The accident remains under investigation by the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office and the state fire marshal.
