Two die in accident on Highway 50 in Golden Triangle

A three vehicle crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. this morning on Highway 50 in Lowndes County, east of the Water Way Bridge, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Brian C. Mobley.
The first fatality is Keona Fields, 25, of Okolona. The second fatality is David Malone, 63, of West Point. Ms. Fields was driving a Black 2002 Pontiac Grand Am.
Mr. Malone was driving a White 1997 GMC pick-up truck. Ms. Fields was traveling west. Mr. Malone was traveling east. Ms. Fields vehicle collided head-on with Mr. Malone’s vehicle. Ms. Fields vehicle was struck by a third vehicle.
The third vehicle involved was a Maroon 1999 Ford Expedition. The Ford was driven by Latoya Hatchett, a 25 year old female from Prairie. The Ford was traveling east. Ms. Hatchett was not injured.
Ms. Fields and Mr. Malone were pronounced dead at the scene by the Lowndes County Coroner.
The crash is still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.
