MYRTLE – Back-to-back fires in two parts of Union County destroyed a house and a truck shop Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to County Road 206 in the New Harmony community where they found a home ablaze.
“It was fully involved when they got there,” said Jimmy Edwards, chief deputy for the Union County Sheriff’s Department. “It was a total loss.”
While crews from the east side of the county fought that blaze, others from the west side were called to County Road 360, where a truck shop owned by Neeley Trucking was also totally involved. A truck was inside the burning building, Edwards said, along with diesel fuel and other chemicals.
No cause has been determined.
