Two Miss. nurses accused of stealing pain medicine

JACKSON — Attorney General Jim Hood says two nurses have been indicted on charges of fraudulently obtaining medications.

Hood says Kimberly Murrell of Plantersville and Bonnie Brown of Amory turned themselves into to authorities on Wednesday. The nurses worked for Graceland Care Center in New Albany.

Hood says Murrell is accused of signing a document to allow the narcotic Loratab and its generic form to be dispensed to patients, and then using the medications herself. He said Brown is accused of signing out narcotics for patients who were giving Tylenol instead. Hood says Brown allegedly kept the narcotics for herself.

The women were released from the Union County Jail on $10,000 bond. A jail official didn’t know if they had attorneys.
