OXFORD – The first two in a group of nine North Mississippians charged in a regional cocaine conspiracy were sentenced in federal court Thursday.

Yulande Scott, 34, of Tupelo, and Demetrius Babbit, 36, were sentenced before Chief judge Michael P. Mills in the Northern District Court of Mississippi in Oxford.

Babbit, who entered a guilty plea in May, and Scott, who pleaded guilty in July, were both given time served for the time spent in jail since his arrest and given two years of post-release supervision.

They were charged with seven others in a conspiracy to distribute powder cocaine and crack cocaine between 2009 and 2012.
