Pontotoc County Sheriff Neal Davis said two different shooting incidents in the county has resulted in the arrest of two people — one on simple assault and one on aggravated domestic violence.
Both shootings were as a result of domestic disputes.
The first shooting occurred on Sunday evening in the Evergreen Trailer Park just off of Highway 41 South.
“It is located just past Water’s grocery,” Davis said. “Paul Travis Lancaster, 44, of 107 Dale Drive, Trailer 29. has been charged with Aggravated Domestic Violence.”
Lancaster is free on a $10,000 bond. The victim whose name is not being released was shot once in the upper body with a 9mm handgun. He was still in critical condition at the NMMC Tupelo Monday afternoon.
On Monday, a woman at 8579 Highway 6 West, who was attempting to scare off her son-in-law, shot a .44 calibre handgun and wounded a passer-by in a vehicle.
Sheriff Davis said the woman “thought she was shooting in the ground. She was about 100 yards from the road when she fired the shots.”
One of the bullets went through the door of a truck that was passing on the highway in front of her home, wounding the passenger in the leg. He was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.
Davis said that Penny Allen of the address above has been charged with simple assault.
