Two suspects held in Thursday afternoon robbery

TUPELO – Two suspects are in custody with the Tupelo Police Department after being apprehended in connection with a Thursday afternoon robbery.

Police were called about 1:45 p.m. to a Sprint Mart store on Eason Boulevard at Highway 45, where a victim had been robbed and struck with a handgun, said Sgt. Lynette Sandlin. The victim was injured, but the injuries were not life-threatening, she said.

Police were given a description of the vehicle in which the suspects left the scene, and they were taken into custody at the Burger King restaurant at Crosstown.

A third suspect is believed to have participated in the robbery, and Sandlin said suspect identities are not being released at this time.

Charges are expected to be filed Friday when more information will be released.
