Two Tupelo men arrested in attempted burglary of Baldwyn pharmacy

By Press Release

Two Tupelo men, both ex-convicts and on probation with the state Department of Corrections, are facing felony charges stemming from an early-morning Tuesday attempted burglary at a Baldwyn pharmacy, a Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics official confirmed Thursday.

Thirty-year-old Lenardo R. Heard and 27-year-old Christopher L. Freeman each faces one count of burglary of a pharmacy.

“Nearly a dozen pharmacy burglaries have been reported over several months in Lee, Itawamba and Monroe counties,” Director Fisher said. “At this point, we cannot say we have solved them all with these arrests, but certainly we are sending a clear message that such drug crimes will be vigorously investigated.”

MBN Director Marshall Fisher said the agency, working with Baldwyn Police Department, Lee County and Prentiss County sheriff’s offices, arrested the two suspects following a traffic stop near Medical Arts Pharmacy a short time after its alarm was set off.

A search of the vehicle turned up items observed on the pharmacy’s surveillance cameras as well as other incriminating evidence, Director Fisher said.

Lee County Justice Court Judge Sadie Holland has set each suspect’s bond at $50,000.
