BATESVILLE – Sunday beer sales will become legal March 1 in unincorporated areas of Panola County.
The board of supervisors this past week made Sunday sales legal from noon until 10 p.m.
The action amended a county ordinance, passed in 1972, that forbids Sunday beer sales.
Board president Gary Thompson says the decision brings the county in line with what local towns have already done. Batesville approved Sunday beer sales last fall and Sardis aldermen approved sales earlier this month.
Sunday beer sales were already legal in Pope and in Como.
