Two were injured Tuesday in a head-on collision with an 18-wheeler in Union County.
Charles Beard, 62, of Myrtle, and his 12-year-old passenger were hospitalized after a truck driven by Jeffery Dugal, 52, of Bloomington Springs, Tenn., reportedly swerved into oncoming traffic.
The accident occurred at 12:45 p.m. on Highway 15 in Union County at the intersection of County Road 107.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Casey Mayo said the vehicle in front of Dugal was slowing and when Dugal realized he couldn’t slow down in time, he moved into the oncoming lane.
He was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. His passenger, whose name isn’t being released, was transported to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis. Both were in stable condition Tuesday afternoon.
Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
