Union supervisors name interim coroner

By NEMS Daily Journal

NEW ALBANY – The Union County Board of Supervisors on Monday appointed Baron Baker as the county’s interim coroner.
Baker, a deputy coroner since January 2012, succeeds Mark Golding, who resigned last week in the midst of an investigation by the State Auditor’s Office into alleged embezzlement.
A spokesman for the Auditor’s Office declined Monday to say whether Golding had been formally charged or taken into custody.
Baker’s appointment as coroner is effective until a Nov. 5 special election.
Meanwhile, Rob Anderson continues as deputy coroner.
