Two were injured in a head-on collision Tuesday involving an 18-wheeler in Union County.
Charles Beard, 62, of Myrtle, and his 12-year-old passenger were hospitalized after Jeffery Dugal, 52, of Bloomington Springs, Tenn., swerved into oncoming traffic.
The accident occured at 12:45 p.m. on Highway 15 in Union County at the intersection of County Road 107.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Casey Mayo said the vehicle in front of Dugal was slowing and when Dugal realized he couldn’t slow down in time, he moved into the oncoming lane to avoid hitting the car in front of him.
Beard was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram.
He was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, his passenger, who’s name isn’t being released by authorities, was transported to Le Bonheur hospital in Memphis.
They were both reported stable Tuesday afternoon.
Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigation the wreck.
