UPDATE: 2, 4, 6, 8: The mascot's back. That's really great

MERIDIAN — Meridian police say they’ve recovered a sport utility vehicle that was stolen with the Meridian High School mascot uniform inside.

The wildcat costume costs more than $1,000, although its spirit-raising value to football fans is difficult to calculate.

The Meridian Star reports the SUV and costume were stolen last week outside Bonita Lakes Mall.

The wildcat costume was recovered Friday, in time for the Meridian football game in Natchez.

The stolen Chevrolet Tahoe was found Sunday near downtown.

Meridian Police Department Capt. James Sharpe says whoever took the SUV probably abandoned it because the theft had gotten lots of local media attention.
